I think it answers your question. There is light as well as darkness in everyone, some are just too blind or jaded or don't want to see it.
To accept that there isn't just Darkness, not just Blood within them but light. That is how you start trying to live a moral and compassionate existence.
For every person who commits an evil act there is someone else trying to correct it. Darkness is the absence of light. There was light once and there may be light again.
